The virtual reality platform Minecraft is being brought to La Junta students to build a virtual version of Bent's old fort. Virtual reality platforms now and soon will be accessible from mobile devices, gaming consoles, and tablets. Immersive education initiative is helping Colorado students connect with one of Stanford university's architectural design problem to build this virtual replica.
This virtual replica of Bent's old fort will help students who can never reach the area learn about the fort's historical significance while teaching the students who created the virtual fort crucial skills. This recreation of the fort could be the starting point of the virtual recreation of many of America's historical sites. The interactive nature Minecraft is likely to encourage more students to pursue careers in fields like engineering, software, and history oriented careers.
