iBUYPOWER NE654X Desktop PC review

I am reviewing a desktop system I recently purchased.  It is the iBUYPOWER NE654X.
A.  In the past decades the price of high performance desktop PC's has dropped significantly.  These machines that were once selling for $5,000+ can now be purchased with the same performance capabilities for under $1,000.  This specific PC stood out because at the time it was the most bang for the buck.  According to Google stores this PC can be purchased from $608.95-$669, during Cyber Monday I managed to get my hands on it for $579.99.

B.  This is a performance and or a gaming computer.  In comparison to standard desktops, this system has significantly more powerful than your average entertainment desktop.  These types of computers can vary in specs but the specific model I am reviewing today features these basic specs:

Processor
AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz
Processor Main Features
64 bit 8-Core Processor
Cache Per Processor
8MB L3 Cache
Memory
8 GB DDR3 1600
Hard Drive
1 TB SATA II
Optical Drive
24X DL DVD+/-RW Drive
Graphics
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 2 GB
Ethernet
Gigabit Ethernet
Power Supply
400W
Case
NZXT Source 220 W/ Window
Operating System
Windows 8.1 64-Bit
While some people would argue that the 8GB RAM is too little, I've personally have not found it to be a problem.  It is still capable of handling a running computer game, browser, and multiple other applications being open at the same time.  Down the road as applications start using more memory, this system has another 3 RAM memory slots available that has the expansion capability of 32GB.
One of the most incredible parts of this system is the processor which is a 64-bit 8 core processor at 3.5 GHZ.  It is a fantastic high speed chip.  The graphics card is 2GB NVIDIA Geforce, it is sufficient for today but will probably need a replacement in one to two years to stay up to speed with the future market.
The storage space on the hard drive is about 1 terabyte, for today's gamer it is not necessarily huge but this PC does offer an external hard drive connector.   This system also has the ability to stay remarkably cold at all times.  It is almost like an air conditioner.  There is 1 large cooling fan in the rear above the graphics card, 2 cooling fans in the front, and also a small cooling fan for the motherboard.

Comparable products that other people have shown interest in would be:
Personal option is that they have more hard drive space but have weaker or not as high quality processors.  Note these other PC's are significantly more expensive as well.

My overall grade to the iBUYPOWER NE654X would be a B+, mostly for value and performance.  I have not run into any quality issues and windows 8 remains bad.

Bent's old fort from the 1830's will not be virtually online in 2014-2015

The virtual reality platform Minecraft is being brought to La Junta students to build a virtual version of Bent's old fort.  Virtual reality platforms now and soon will be accessible from mobile devices, gaming consoles, and tablets.  Immersive education initiative is helping Colorado students connect with one of Stanford university's architectural design problem to build this virtual replica.

This virtual replica of Bent's old fort will help students who can never reach the area learn about the fort's historical significance while teaching the students who created the virtual fort crucial skills.  This recreation of the fort could be the starting point of the virtual recreation of many of America's historical sites.  The interactive nature Minecraft is likely to encourage more students to pursue careers in fields like engineering, software, and history oriented careers.

La Junta Colorado students utilize Immersive Education

La Junta high school and college students are using the virtual reality platform called Minecraft in order to recreate Bent's old fort.  To students it might seem like a game at first where they must construct a fort.  While working together in teams to build the fort the students are given an opportunity to lean about the historical significance of Bent's old fort.
One of the end goals of the program is to have the students graduate to software that is more engineering based; Auto CAD being one of the programs.  Once the virtual fort is completed it will give the ability to people from all over the world to access the fort to learn more about it's history.  Programs like this could potentially help develop more engineers and architects.

"Assignment 2-1: What is Immersive Education?"

This screenshot is a list of current virtual world platforms that are open and endorsed by the immersive education initiative.  At the bottom you can see some platforms that are becoming candidates to be endorsed by the immersive education initiative.  Some of the potentials are public and commercial.

This is a screenshot of a program that helps children learn biology and other similar sciences.  In this screen shot the user has the ability to click on a box which will teach you about atoms and the atom process.  In this scenario this screen is showing how the oxygen atom works.  This online tool is effective for students in certain areas of the country like the desert or who do not have the means to travel to a park.
In this screenshot, students are playing a game that involves algebra in front of a bunch of their classmates who seem to be cheering them on.  The most important detail about this screenshot and the event is that the children are actively engaged and enjoying and algebra based game.  This is something that can really help children who do not find math interesting. In a way it's almost subconsciously teaching them math.
In this screenshot one of the students asked about the lag of a lot of the virtual worlds that are being presented to students.  Aaron states that it is a massive problem that is being worked on.  A lot of it has to do with technology issues like networks, poor video quality, and poor design.  All of these issues are being improved in time and is one of the reasons why virtual reality learning has not caught on right away.
